A flat white wakes you up. A triple espresso on an empty stomach makes things worse. Pace yourself.
Fry-up theory
Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, toast. The fat helps, the salt helps, the carbs help. Science (sort of).
Painkillers, sensibly
Paracetamol over ibuprofen if your stomach is unhappy. Never both. Never on an empty stomach.
Hair of the dog?
A bloody Mary at brunch is tradition. Another six pints at noon is a problem. Know the difference.
Myth-busting
- Drinking beer before wine: doesn't matter. Drinking too much: matters a lot.
- Coffee doesn't sober you up — it just makes you a wide-awake drunk.
- Greasy food the morning after helps. Greasy food while drinking just makes you full.
- Sports drinks help with hydration but won't undo the damage. Nothing does.
